One of the most impressive natural landscapes in Castellón is the Alt Maestrat, which extends majestically, alternating plains, valleys, ravines and mountains, creating an environment in its purest and wildest state.

In the Alt Maestrat, nature is intermingled with the vestiges of past times, which gave it its history and identity, such as rock art sites, fountains, farmhouses or dry stone constructions. The region has numerous areas of great ecological value, which are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. They also allow the practice of different activities related to nature and the environment. The municipalities of the Alt Maestrat have signposted hiking and cycling routes and numerous approved trails with which to enjoy great excursions on foot, by bicycle or on horseback, such as the incredible protected area of the Barranc dels Horts, which can be visited on request; the ravine of the Montlleó river; the place of the Molinell river in Culla; the Natural Park of the Rivet Forest in Benassal; the Tossal de la Nevera and the two valleys that limit the municipality of Catí;the extensive almond groves that surround Albocàsser; the Prat de Sant Pau with a hundred-year-old ivy; and Vilar de Canes, with its agricultural and rural environment, and its beautiful route of the Lord's trails. These are just some of these beautiful places to visit, where you can be amazed by the most authentic nature, among the mountains and valleys of the Alt Maestrat.
